Software Engineer
The Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) is an internationally renowned non-profit research institute dedicated to the study and application of systems biology. Founded in 2000 in Seattle, Washington, ISB’s goal is to unravel the mysteries of cellular networks and identify strategies that will usher in a new era of P4 Medicine (predictive, preventive, participatory and personalized medicine).
The Moritz lab is seeking an software engineer to join our proteomics research team. This position will inherit and continue to develop a key proteomics application suite central to our discovery and validation platform. This position will require working independently as well as within a team to drive the software development while interacting with multidisciplinary group of scientists and other software engineers. An ideal candidate will have 2-5 years Java programming experience in J2EE framework and prefer to have an experience in life science research.
Candidates should have at 2-5 years’ experience with the following:
• Proficient with java, GWT, Eclipse, hibernate, MySQL
• A BS degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The following additional skills would be very helpful:
• Experience of Eclipse-RCP development
• Experience of developing client/server web application software using object oriented Java Script (e.g., ext-JS, jQuery, YUI etc), Spring Framework and Maven.
• Experience in mass spectrometry data analysis is desirable. Some background in biology or chemistry with a strong desire to branch out into life sciences research.
