Job Overview:
As a Senior Software Design Engineer on Concur’s Platform team, you will be responsible for developing new capabilities and solving challenging problems in cloud computing, including integration between multiple clouds and other third party systems, scalability for systems handling millions of transactions per month, data extraction across a wide array of varying sources, and others. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for developing new tools and features for the administration and implementation of Concur’s SaaS solutions, used by both internal users and external customers. This is an exciting opportunity to work for a pioneer in the cloud computing space and work on a team that touches many aspects of Concur’s industry leading SaaS corporate travel and expense platform.

Responsibilities:

* Enjoy writing awesome code. * Design sophisticated computing systems. * Create design documents and diagrams. * Use version control systems effectively, including an understanding of branching. * Participate in group design sessions. * Mentor or assist other team members. * Analyze existing code and designs. * Debug applications, as needed. * Enjoy learning new techniques. * Utilize bug and enhancement tracking software and process. * Manage time effectively and estimate project effort. * Seek out and also perform code reviews. Position Requirements: Education, Experience & Training required: o BSCS, BSEE, or equivalent years of work experience. o 6+ years in related software development roles. + Significant professional programming experience in Java and related middle tier and backend technologies. + Substantial advanced experience with SQL, including stored procedures and tables. + Experience designing/implementing scalable architecture is preferred. + Experience with SQL Server preferred. o Ability to pass a background check. Job Specific Specialized Knowledge & Skills: o Advanced knowledge of software design and development processes. o Effective communication skills, focusing on presentation of technical information. o Strong programming knowledge of Java & SQL required. o Knowledge of SQL server, database design, and performance tuning preferred. o Must be willing to work in both Java and C# and develop skills in either as needed. o Proficiency in web application development technologies such as Javascript and HTML is preferred. o Proficiency in .NET Languages (C#, AspX) is a strong plus. o Demonstrated knowledge of software tools, documentation processes, and development processes. o Ability to work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. o Broad knowledge of QA processes. o Broad knowledge of requirements gathering. o Awareness of business issues and their impact on product development. o Ability to exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining solutions. o Project leadership experience preferred.
