GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Network Administrator is responsible for designing, installing, supporting, and maintaining the firm’s local and wide area networks and telecommunications systems to a degree that ensures the effectiveness, reliability, and efficiency of operations. Accountable for proposing standards, policies and procedures relative to technology operations, and assuring an understanding of adopted standards and compliance with procedures, while continually monitoring and identifying opportunities for improved performance. Serves as consultant to management in strategic planning in order to meet organizational needs for effective technology operations that align with the firm’s goals and vision. Provides input to the technical direction for all of the firm’s technology systems, and identifies and implements appropriate security measures to protect its information assets.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
• MCSE certification preferred
• Minimum five years experience with hands-on network administration
• Minimum two years experience managing technical staff who perform networking services and IT support
• Preferred experience in working directly with senior management team
• Prior experience with law firms a plus
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with server and computer hardware and software and associated network equipment operations
• Proven experience with Windows operating systems platform, Windows server and client operating systems
• Experience with WAN expansion and growth
• Administration of Active Directory
• Experienced in Exchange administration
• Background in SonicWALL firewall administration
• Experience with multifunction security appliances
• Knowledge of anti-virus software
• Experience with virtualization server deployment
• Experience with researching new technology innovations and recommending changes
• Proven analytical and problem-solving ability
• Experience with intrusion detection and prevention software
• Experience with server monitoring/performance tools
• Operates independently and exercises sound judgment and critical thinking in day-to-day activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Participate in development of network standards
• Work and plan with management to help set the strategic direction of IT in the firm
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans and diagrams for network operations, administration, usage, and disaster recovery
• Develops detailed project plans
• Install, support, and maintain servers and other technology platforms and systems
• Maintain configuration management and change control of network infrastructure, including security
• Responsible for network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications
• Coordinate daily work activities; organize, prioritize, and assign work; monitor status of work in progress and inspect completed work of assigned staff
• Ensure compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; initiate any actions necessary to correct deviations
• Oversee the technology network demands at all remote sites operated by the firm
• Analyze network traffic from the Internet and on the local/wide area networks
• Research and qualify outside vendors providing technology related products and services
• Provide disaster recovery planning/testing
• Analyze user needs and formulate and implement solutions
• Provide end user training during new employee orientation and when needed
• Provide network performance monitoring, reporting, and evaluation
• Evaluate new networking hardware and software
• Respond to user requests for service and troubleshoot problems
• Diagnose performance and connectivity problems with network analysis tools
• Coordinate with outside vendors and other IT staff as necessary on network cabling design and maintenance
• Responsible for scheduling software upgrades, installations and patches system-wide
• Establish procedures for backup of all critical data and monitor compliance
• Monitor access privileges and security
• Provide access to network resources
• Manage projects, including incorporation of project management best practices
• Act as liaison providing multi-level communications to management, end users and service providers
• Exercise independent judgment and discretion in defining system problems and solutions
• Analyze and develop complex workflows and system processes
• Monitor and reports licenses on applications to ensure compliance
• Monitor load balance on servers and make recommendations
• Attend appropriate continuing education classes as needed to maintain high level of technical competence
• Perform other duties as may be assigned
