Experienced Program Manager
at SEOmoz in Seattle
Seeking Experienced Program Manager for fast-growing startup (Seattle - Downtown)
SEOmoz is Seeking an Exceptional Program Manager to Join Our Seattle Team
Don't be wooed by the big companies; come to a place where your talents are appreciated, your voice is heard, and your work has an impact.
First, a few questions:
• Is your hatred for cubicles exceeded only by your desire to make the web a better place?
• Do you want to work with a bunch of smart, passionate people building some really cool software?
• Would you like to, on occasion, go to fun conferences in far-off cities?
• Have you ever wondered why your “Elvis Lives” blog does not rank #1 in Google?
If you've answered yes to the above, congratulations! You're a lot like us and we can't wait to meet you.
OK, on to the serious parts:
SEOmoz is a profitable startup that develops market-leading tools and technology used by Internet marketers and webmasters to improve their rankings in search engines. We are looking to augment our team with a top-notch program manager who's ready to flex his or her muscles and conquer any work thrown their way.
Responsibilities:
• Take ownership of projects from cradle to grave; planning to launch
• Define requirements and wireframe new features
• Maintain project timelines and keep our agile development on schedule and on track
• Deeply understand our business, industry, and customers; translate needs into product requirements and specs
• Contribute creative and innovative ideas to the business.
• Be the central point of communication for all owned projects
• Work effectively with everyone at the company; developers, designers, marketers, and everyone in between.
• Keep on top of the details so that nothing slips through the cracks
Required:
• 2-7 years of recent experience as a program or project manager
• Excellent problem solver, creative thinker, and extremely self-motivated
• Analytical and detail oriented. Able to prioritize, execute and deliver projects on time
• Solid experience in creating great web UX and/or information architecture with a focus on usability
• Strong customer empathy
• Great written and verbal communication skills
• Able to herd cats, dogs, and the occasional circus animal
• Add energy to already energetic core team
• Able to refill the coffee if you take the last cup
• U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required
Preferred Skills & Abilities (Bonus Round):
The following attributes, while not required, would be valuable to the team and useful in many of the tasks and projects you'll be assigned:
• Participation in the social web (blogosphere, youtube, twitter, etc)
• Experience with Agile processes / scrum
• Experience in a high-energy startup or an enterprise class software company is a plus
• Experience doing SEO and using SEO could come in very handy
• A computer science or coding background could also come in handy
Why Work for SEOmoz?
We figure it's only fair that we provide as much transparency and respect for your job criteria as you do for our candidate criteria - quid pro quo and all that. :-)
SEOmoz is not only one of the top companies in the SEO space, but one of the most exciting firms in the technology startup field. While other industries and firms are in dire straits thanks to economic and financial upheaval, SEOmoz's sales and trajectory continue to be strong. The launch of our Linkscape index of the world wide web (data accessible via Open Site Explorer) gives us a distinct competitive advantage in SEO analysis and has helped to generate significant buzz and interest.
SEOmoz is a small startup - there are only 20 of us, but we're globally known in the search field and have deep relationships around the world. We've got the reputation of a big player with the energy of a young, nimble organization and we love that - it lets us do very exciting things when we smell opportunity.
The company has a fun, laid-back work environment. We work hard and sometimes put in long hours to accomplish our projects, but we're not unreasonable tyrants. We're very generous with vacation and flex time and understand that our employees have lives, interests, and obligations outside of the office. We maintain a close-knit, warm, nurturing atmosphere, but we know how to buckle down and get things done, providing an objective eye and constructive criticism when needed. Our office is in downtown Seattle, a stone's throw from Pike Place Market.
To get a better idea of who we are, we'd suggest reading our blog voraciously. You'll get a great sense for the team and our corporate personality there. I also recommend that you check out this blog post to learn more about our culture.
Compensation
We're offering a competitive salary for this position (based on experience), in order to attract exciting candidates. In addition, we also provide:
• Generous stock/ownership compensation (1 year to first stake, 4 years to full vesting)
• 21 days annual paid time off
• Opportunities to travel and attend/speak at industry events
• Paid Internet access for your home
• Multiple transportation options (Bus Pass, Flexcar, parking, etc.)
• Great benefits (medical, dental, 401k, etc)
How to Apply
Follow this link and fill out our web form, attaching your cover letter, resume, and any other relevant information.
Thanks so much - we look forward to hearing from you and truly appreciate your interest in SEOmoz. We know how hard it can be to engage in the job search gauntlet and wish you the very best in your journey.
Sincerely,
The SEOmoz Team
