Amazon is looking for a Support Engineer with a Database Administration background/experience to join the Global Financial Applications Business
Intelligence team who have a passion for their customers and a passion for working with data. The Global Financial Systems organizational success depends on our world-class Business Intelligence platform and we're handling massive scale and rapid integration of emergent technologies. You'll help us analyze large amounts of data, discover and solve real world problems and develop metrics and business cases that will enable us to
continually produce the real-time reports needed to evolve our Financial systems. The successful candidate will be highly analytical, intensely detailed, have an strong customer focus and a passion for the many aspects of Business Intelligence. An ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly analytical, and intensely detailed with a strong customer focus and perspective to drive strategy in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• As a Support Engineer you will be working in one of the company's largest and complex data warehouse environments.
• Provide first level response for all production applications and systems
• You will be supporting the analytic technologies that give our customers timely, flexible and structured access to their data.
• Resolve most upstream data and ETL related problems to Data Warehouse processing
• Triage and escalate user problems
• You will be responsible for helping design and implementing a platform using third-party and in-house reporting tools, modeling metadata, building reports and dashboards in Oracle BI Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) as well as existing Cognos and ESSBASE technologies.
• You will work with business customers in understanding the business requirements and implementing solutions to support analytical and reporting needs.
• Retrieving and analyzing data using Oracle SQL, Excel, and other data management systems.
• Monitoring existing metrics, developing and proposing new metrics, and working acrossorganization to make actionable intelligence available to business stakeholders.
• Supporting cross-functional teams on the day-to-day execution of projects and initiatives.
• Create in-depth analysis of the health and performance of Business Intelligence systems as well as establishing, meeting and exceeding Service SLA's
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience
• Experience with SQL (Oracle), Excel, and Access
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
• Background in Business Intelligence, specifically in the areas of OBIEE, Cognos or ESSBASE platforms.
• Oracle and Linux skills
• Should possess strong customer focus
• Strong knowledge of SQL relational database concepts
• Excellent command over Java, C or C++ or Perl (JavaScript experience, a plus)
• Significant Experience with very large databases as well as OLAP technologies
• Deep understanding how data is extracted, transformed, scrubbed and loaded
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to communicate across business areas
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with ability to balance competing priorities.
• A good candidate has strong analytical skills and enjoys working with large complex data sets.
• Should be able to research data issues in great detail.
• A good candidate can partner with business owners directly to understand their requirements and provide data which can help them observe patterns and spot anomalies.
• Be passionate about working with huge data sets and someone who loves to bring datasets together to answer business questions and drive change.
• Expertise in the design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets.
• Expert at designing, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low cost solutions to flow data from production systems into the Data Warehouse and into end-user facing applications
